Mistral AI raises €3 billion in Series D funding round led by Samsung Electronics
Mistral AI has secured €3 billion in a Series D funding round, achieving a post-money valuation of more than €21 billion. This marks the largest equity fundraising round ever completed by a European technology company. The round was led by Samsung Electronics, with co-leads including Scaleup Europe Fund, managed by EQT, and existing investor PSG Equity. Mistral AI will use the funding to scale its compute capacity, expand its infrastructure, and accelerate international commercial growth. The company operates in 20 countries and supports over 125 global enterprises. The funding also supports a strategic partnership with Samsung Electronics to integrate Mistral AI services across semiconductor operations. This collaboration aims to develop customized on-premises AI models to optimize chip design and manufacturing processes. The investment round included participation from several international backers, including Advent, BlackRock, and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, alongside existing investors such as a16z, ASML, and Nvidia. French President Macron stated that the funding reflects a goal of building a third way in AI, highlighting the company's role as a French tech champion.
