China Leads Global Humanoid Robot Shipments as Robotics Industry Enters Large-Scale Commercial Application Phase

China has emerged as a global leader in the humanoid robot market, accounting for 97 percent of global shipments in the first half of 2026. According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China has developed more than 400 complete humanoid robot products, representing over half of the global total. Industry experts note that the robotics sector has entered a critical phase of large-scale commercial application, moving from small-scale trials to widespread market deployment. While humanoid robots have achieved impressive milestones, such as performing synchronized dances and outrunning human world records, experts highlight that significant engineering challenges remain. These include mastering complex manipulation tasks, ensuring robot safety in proximity to human beings, and managing hardware issues like overheating and battery life. The rapid growth of the Chinese robotics industry is contributing to a shift in global perceptions of China's technological capabilities. As Chinese-made products gain traction in the United States and elsewhere, China is increasingly recognized as a leader in futuristic vision and affordable innovation.
