Security Guard Kenneth Williams Sr. Killed in Shooting by Gary Police and Lake County Sheriff's Officers
Kenneth Williams Sr., a 67-year-old security guard, was fatally shot Friday night while working at the Metro station at 4th Avenue and Broadway in Gary, Indiana. The shooting occurred after officers from the Gary Police Department and the Lake County Sheriff' Department responded to reports of an armed security guard exhibiting "unusual and erratic behavior." During the confrontation, nine officers in total—six from Gary Police and three from the Lake County Sheriff's Office—discharged their weapons. Indiana State Police are leading the investigation into the incident. While the family of Kenneth Williams Sr. is seeking answers regarding the specific circumstances of the shooting, the preliminary cause of death remains pending. All involved officers have been placed on administrative leave. No officers were reported injured during the shootout.
