Hannah Israel's pet donkey HeeHaw was shot and killed by a Cedartown police officer during a search for a missing child.

A police officer in Cedartown, Georgia, shot and killed a pet donkey named HeeHaw during an early-morning search for a missing child. The incident occurred at the Elsberry Riding and Farm in Rockmart. Hannah Israel, the owner of the donkey, stated that the animal was bottle-raised from one hour old and was a familiar presence on the farm. According to Israel, the officer shot the donkey after it ran toward the strangers and began braying. The officer reportedly attempted to use a Taser before the donkey was shot. Cedartown police chief Jamie Newsom confirmed that the officer involved has been placed on paid administrative leave while the Georgia Department of Agriculture Law Enforcement division investigates the case. The missing child was eventually found at a church near the pasture where the shooting took place. Israel has launched an online fundraiser to support legal action and a foundation in the donkey's name. She expressed that the donkey was treated as a family member rather than just livestock.
