Hannah Israel seeks legal action after a Cedartown police officer shot and killed her pet donkey, HeeHaw.

A Cedartown police officer has been placed on administrative leave while the department investigates the shooting death of a baby donkey named HeeHaw. The incident occurred at Elsberry Riding & Farm in Rockmart, Georgia, around 12:45 a.m. on Sunday. Hannah Israel, the owner of the donkey, stated that officers entered her pasture without permission or warning while searching for a missing person. According to Israel, the donkey ran toward the officers while braying, leading them to believe they were in danger. The officers reportedly attempted to use a Taser on the donkey before shooting and killing it. Jamie Newsome, the Cedartown Police Chief, confirmed that the department's command staff launched an investigation into the shooting. The Polk County Sheriff's Office stated that while their agency was not involved, law enforcement personnel from both the Polk County Police Department and the Cedartown Police Department were involved in the incident. Israel has launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover legal fees as she seeks answers regarding the shooting.
