Unifor members ratified a three-year collective agreement with General Motors Canada to secure wage gains and production commitments.

This contract includes more than C$1 billion in investments across the automaker's Canadian operations. Specifically, General Motors will invest C$144 million to add next-generation GMC Sierra Heavy-Duty production to the Oshawa Assembly plant. This move gives the plant a second full-size heavy-duty pickup nameplate, joining the Chevy Silverado HD. Production for these trucks is planned to begin in the fourth quarter of 2028 for the 2029 model year. The agreement also includes C$343 million to support next-generation heavy-duty truck production and C$63 million for stamping and CCA upgrades. General Motors will add stamping and component work at Oshawa, including sunroof, back panel, and back panel production. The contract also prevents the CAMI Assembly Plant from closing. Unifor National President Lana Payne stated that the automaker is making these investments in the Canadian workforce and facilities at a crucial time.
