Catalina Ortiz is the final victim recovered from the ruins of the Vanessa building in Cali

Rescuers in Cali completed the extraction of 22 bodies from the Vanessa building following a seven-day search operation. Catalina Ortiz, a 30-year-old DJ and influencer, was the final victim located among the rubble. Her body was found on the first floor, covered by five slabs and various large beams, requiring the use of heavy machinery and large cranes to clear the debris. The operation involved a coordinated effort between the Cali Fire Department, the National Army, and specialized rescue teams from Israel. The search was complicated by the depth of some victims and the advanced state of decomposition of others. Authorities prioritized structural stability to ensure the safety of nearby buildings, such as the Los Laureles building and the Hotel Metropolis. With the recovery of Catalina Ortiz, the search and rescue phase is ended, and authorities will now focus on the remaining debris removal and sector stabilization.
