President Abelardo De la Espriella annuls the 2015 suspension of aerial glifosato spraying for illicit crop eradication.

President Abelardo De la Espriella has officially annulled the 2015 resolution that suspended the use of glifosato herbicide for aerial spraying to eradicate illicit crops across Colombia. The decision, published in the Official Journal, marks a significant step toward fulfilling a primary campaign promise to address the 330,000 hectares of coca crops currently in the country. While the 2015 suspension was originally prompted by the International Agency for Research on Cancer's classification of glifosato as 'probably carcinogenic,' the new resolution does not grant an automatic reactivation of the program. The government must still meet specific environmental, sanitary, and operational requirements set by the Constitutional Court before fumigation can begin. The resolution was signed by the Vice Minister of Criminal Policy, Carlos G贸nima D帽az-Granados, and opens the path for the resumption of aerial spraying operations.
