Cody Khork's parents seek accountability for their son's death during Iranian drone strike

Army Reserve Capt. Cody Khork was killed alongside five other American troops during an Iranian drone strike on a base in Kuwait on March 1. The Khorks, Cody's parents, are seeking accountability from the U.S. Army for what they describe as a lack of military shortcomings ahead of the attack. While the Army confirmed that its internal investigation into the strike was completed in early July, the official report has not yet been released to the public. An Army spokesperson requested patience, stating that the Army is committed to transparency while respecting the privacy of the primary next of kin. Cody Khork served as a force protection officer and reportedly delivered repeated warnings to the unit's leader, Brig. Gen. Clint Barnes, regarding the risk of an Iranian attack. Intelligence reports from as early as January indicated that Iran would target the Port of Shuaiba. The Khorks stated that Cody advised Barnes that the unit should remain in their position even during periods of calm. Stacey Khork described her son's death as unnecessary, suggesting that the military's justice system should provide atonement for the family's grief.
