Mexican federal forces dismantled a clandestine narcolaboratory in Zitácuaro, Michoacán, seizing thousands of kilograms of methamphetamine and chemical precursors.

Federal forces in Mexico, including the Army, National Guard, Navy, and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, dismantled a clandestine narcolaboratory in the municipality of Zitácuaro, Michoacán. The operation resulted in the seizure of 1,515 liters and 1,991 kilograms of substances with characteristics similar to methamphetamine, along with 2,325 kilograms of caustic soda and 750 kilograms of ammonium chloride. Authorities also secured nine reactors, 35 gas tanks, and an improvised camp used by organized crime. This action is part of a broader strategy to reduce the production capacity of criminal groups. Since the start of the current administration, federal forces have located 2,644 clandestine laboratories across the country, seizing more than 132 tons of methamphetamine and over 5,400 tons of chemical precursors. The seized materials from the Zitácuaro operation were handed over to the General Prosecutor’s Office for further investigation and legal analysis.
