Sinaloa faces economic and psychological impacts as violence between 'Chapos' and 'Mayos' factions continues to spread.

The ongoing conflict between the 'Chapos' and 'Mayos' factions in Sinaloa has extended beyond the primary hubs of Culiacán and Mazatlón, impacting various municipalities, businesses, and families. Martha Reyes Zazueta, president of Coparmex Sinaloa, noted that while homicides continue in Culiacán, the violence has shifted to other areas, causing high levels of anxiety among young people and adults. Miguel Taniyama, a local restaurateur, reported that the insecurity has resulted in car thefts, disappearances, and business closures. The conflict has also generated psychological damage across different sectors of the population. Authorities have recorded nearly three thousand executions and approximately four thousand disappearances during the conflict. While military forces have been deployed to curb the violence, the state's economy is struggling, with four thousand businesses closing. The state government is awaiting a response from the federal government to provide financial support to address the collapsing economy and the insecurity.
