Simitrio Alvarez Benito is detained for alleged extortion in Guerrero state
Simitrio Alvarez Benito, the Municipal Director of Mobility and Transport for Tlapa de Comonfort, was detained by state justice authorities in Guerrero. The administration announced that the operation involved the National Defense Secretariat, the National Guard, and State Police to execute search orders. Simitrio Alvarez Benito was apprehended due to an order of apprehension for the crime of extortion. During the same security mobilization, 71 suspected municipal police officers who failed to prove their status as official agents were detained across three municipalities: Tlapa de Comonfort, Atlixtac, and Chilapa de Alvarez. In Chilapa de Alvarez, 43 suspected agents were detained after failing to prove their quality as police preventive agents. In Atlixtac, seven people performing municipal functions were detained for failing to prove their quality as police officers. The operation was conducted in the Guerrero Mountain region, involving helicopters from different corporations to assist the security forces.
