Mexico's Education Secretariat has clarified the schedule for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations. While September 15 is not a mandatory day of rest for students or workers, classes in preschool, primary, and and secondary levels will operate normally on that day. The Education Secretariat's calendar confirms that Wednesday, September 16, is the official day when school activities are suspended. Workers and teachers are also required to have a day of rest on September 16 under Article 74 of the Federal Labor Law. If employees work on this mandatory holiday, they are entitled to receive double pay for the service rendered in addition to their regular salary. While some schools may choose to hold a long weekend break if directors and parents agree, these decisions are not official until confirmed by the Education Secretariat's calendar.
