David Guadalupe Ramírez González was found dead in Tepuche after an armed attack also killed his brother.

David Guadalupe Ramírez González, the mayor of Tepuche, was found dead on a chicken farm in the northern part of the Culiacán municipality on Friday, September 4, 2026. His body was discovered in the late afternoon after he had been missing for several hours. The mayor was found in the same location where his brother, Manuel Enrique Ramírez González, had been attacked earlier that day. Manuel Enrique Ramírez González was deprived of his freedom by unknown individuals and suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital in Culiacán, where he was declared dead after doctors attempted to stabilize him. The State Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating whether the murder of David Guadalupe Ramírez González was related to the attack on his brother. David Guadalupe Ramírez González was appointed to the mayoralty of Tepuche last April and is serving a term that lasts until March 31, 2029. He is the second mayor of the Tepuche community to be killed this year.
