At least 23 people, including two children, were killed and five others were injured in a head-on collision between a minibus and a truck on the BR-373 highway in southern Brazil. The crash occurred early Wednesday morning in the state of Parana near the city of Ipiranga. Preliminary evidence suggests the truck, which was not carrying cargo, crossed into the opposite lane and collided with the minibus. The minibus belonged to the municipal health department of the city of Imbituva and was transporting patients, healthcare workers, and their relatives to hospitals in the region of the capital, Curitiba. The truck driver was also among the dead. Following the accident, Parana Governor Ratinho Junior declared three days of official mourning across the state. The highway remained closed for several hours as forensic experts and police examined the site. Local authorities are providing psychological support to the families of the victims.
