Alexander Cromie and Marie Ebert Die in Private Helicopter Crash on Greek Island of Sifnos

Alexander Cromie and Marie Ebert, a British couple on their honeymoon, were killed in a private helicopter crash on the Greek island of Sifnos on Monday. The aircraft, a privately chartered Bell 206, crashed just meters from a landing pad in the Tholos region and burst into flames. The crash occurred moments before the scheduled landing time, following what witnesses described as a bizarre engine noise and a strange mechanical fault. The victims included the newlyweds, who were aged 30 and 31 respectively, and a 53-year-old Greek pilot named Giorgos Raikos. Cromie worked as a vice-president at the asset management firm Blackstone, while Ebert was a senior specialist at Bain & Company. Greek authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash, with the civil aviation authority recalling all Bell 206 helicopters until further notice. The Greek transport ministry is coordinating the inquiry to determine the precise cause of the mechanical failure.
