Worcester Police Chief Paul Saucier reported that the deaths of Worcester police officer Kurt Solomon and his wife, Karen Solomon, are being investigated as a murder-suicide. Kurt Solomon was found dead at their Wildwood Avenue home on August 18, with a death certificate confirming he died from an incised wound of the neck, ruled as a homicide. Karen Solomon placed the 911 call reporting the incident, but she was last seen walking away from the home and was subsequently missing for seven days. Her body was discovered by hospital staff on August 24 in a wooded area near the Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital. Preliminary findings indicate she died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. While the couple had no known history of domestic violence, investigators are still working to determine the details of which weapon was used to kill Kurt Solomon and who owned the other handgun found near Karen Solomon.
