The Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that nurse practitioners are projected to experience the largest percent increase in employment, growing by 41% between 2025 and 2035. This growth is driven by an aging population and a rise in chronic health conditions, which are expected to create millions of jobs in the healthcare and social assistance sector. While the healthcare sector will add the most total jobs, the utilities sector is projected to be the fastest-growing major industry, expanding by nearly 10% to meet the energy demands of artificial intelligence. Other rapidly expanding roles include solar photovoltaic installers and wind turbine service technicians, fueled by a demand for renewable energy. Additionally, the tech sector will see significant growth in data science and research roles to manage increasing data usage. However, the Labor Department notes that while AI demand creates new opportunities in professional and technical services, it is expected to reduce demand for administrative functions and retail positions. Federal government jobs are projected to decline by 3.4% over the same period.
