The recall affects frozen fruits sold at Publix supermarkets across eight states in the southern U.S. The administration announced that the berries have been linked to an outbreak that sickened a dozen people, with four individuals being hospitalized. E. coli contamination can cause severe stomach cramping, diarrhea, and vomiting. While illnesses have been reported in Florida and Georgia, no cases have been reported in North Carolina. The Food and Drug Administration is currently working to be determine the source of the security contamination. Consumers who purchased the told products should discard them or return them to Publix for a full refund. Michigan is not affected by this recall.
