House Republicans Cancel Final Two Weeks of September Session Ahead of Midterm Elections

The House of Representatives has canceled the final two weeks of scheduled votes for September, leaving the chamber with only four days of work before the midterm elections. Jared Golden, broke with their party to support the rule. Members of both parties are now preparing to return to their home districts to campaign for reelection. Rep. Robert B. Aderholt noted that the focus has been shifted toward the election. The House will return for a one-week session starting September 14, before members head home to campaign.
