Mexico City's Hoy No Circula Program Implements Vehicle Restrictions on August 21 and 22

The Hoy No Circula program will operate normally on Friday, August 21, and Saturday, August 22, in the Valley of Mexico to mitigate environmental issues and control contaminant emissions from mobile sources. The Secretariat of Environment (Sedema) reports that stable contaminant conditions mean the Double Hoy No Circula program will not be activated this Friday. Vehicles with verification hologram 1 and 2, and those with plate numbers ending in 9 and 0, and a blue camouflage coat, are prohibited from circulating on Friday. The restriction applies from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Vehicles with hologram 00, 0, and all electric and hybrid vehicles are exempt from restrictions. Drivers who fail to comply with the restrictions will face economic fines ranging from 2,346.20 to 3,519.30 Mexican pesos. For Saturday, the program continues to apply in Mexico City and the State of Mexico to reduce pollution levels and promote sustainable transportation alternatives like public transit.
