Andy Pennick oversees 125 firefighters as large waste facility fire disrupts London transport near Wembley Stadium

The London Fire Brigade deployed 125 firefighters and 20 fire engines to tackle a large fire at a mixed-waste facility in Neasden, north-west London. The blaze, located less than a mile from Wembley Stadium, caused extensive disruptions to public transportation, including the full suspension of the Metropolitan line and severe delays on the Jubilee line. Andy Pennick, an assistant commissioner for the London Fire Brigade, described the incident as a protracted fire involving an industrial unit measuring approximately 100m by 150m. While the fire was under control by late afternoon, the smoke plumes were visible from miles away, prompting officials to advise residents to keep windows and doors closed. A nearby Amazon warehouse was evacuated as a precaution, though it was not directly impacted by the flames. The fire occurred just before the AEW All In pay-per-view event. While the venue itself was not seriously impacted, the blaze caused delays for media day and travel for wrestlers. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
