A man from Stockport is on trial in Manchester for conspiring with 12 other men to drug and sexually assault his wife.

A man in his 60s from Stockport, England, is on trial in Manchester for allegations that he conspired with more than a dozen men to drug and sexually assault his wife while she was unconscious. The husband, who cannot be publicly identified under UK law to protect the anonymity of his wife, faces 48 total charges. He initially denied all charges but later pleaded guilty to 15 offences, including five counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and six counts of assault by penetration. He continues to contest 11 counts of rape, two counts of attempted rape, and several conspiracy charges. The 12 other defendants, aged between 28 and 73, face allegations ranging from direct sexual abuse of the woman to conspiring to administer substances that left her unconscious. Among the defendants are Jonathan Kirk, a paramedic who was photographed with Prince Harry, and Karl Lindsay, a former chief executive of Taunton Town Football Club. Keith Fotheringham has already pleaded guilty to all charges against him. The case has drawn comparisons to the high-profile French trial of Gisèle Pelicot, who was drugged and raped by her ex-husband and 51 other men.
