Cristian Camilo Palacios González dies in head-on collision between an Expreso Bolivariano bus and a tractor-trailer

A serious traffic accident on the Manizales-Medellin road in the Antioquia sector of Caldas left three people dead and 18 injured on Saturday afternoon. The collision occurred approximately 27 kilometers from La Pintada when an Expreso Bolivariano bus, traveling from Medellin to Ipiales, struck a tractor-trailer carrying coffee boxes moving in the opposite direction. Authorities believe the bus driver, Cristian Camilo Palacios González, attempted a risky maneuver to overtake the vehicle ahead, invading the opposing lane and colliding head-on with the tractor. Palacios González was among the three fatalities, along with passengers Jorge Eliécer Soto Correa and Nubia Alba Deavila de Soto. The tractor driver, Numar Ardila Morales, suffered a cranial trauma and is currently recovering in a Pintada Hospital. The road remained closed during the investigation. Preliminary reports indicate the bus had four citations for exceeding speed limits, totaling over two million pesos. Governor Juan Andrés Beltrán expressed condolences to the families of the victims while emergency services from La Pintada, Supía, and Marmato attended to the scene.
