Authorities Confirm Identity of Carlos Alberto Beltrán Olmeda as Remains Found in Clandestine Grave
The ProcuradurĂa General de Justicia de Baja California Sur (PGJE) has confirmed the identity of Carlos Alberto Beltrán Olmeda, a former political advisor and official mayor of Los Cabos. The remains were discovered on July 13 in a clandestine grave located in a terracing breach leading to the La Ballena colony in San JosĂ© del Cabo. Forensic experts used genetic testing to match the bones with a database of samples, confirming that the remains belonged to Beltrán Olmeda. He previously served as a political advisor to Ruben Rocha Moya from 2021 to 2022. Before his disappearance, Beltrán Olmeda faced allegations of links to the Los Chapitos criminal group, which he categorically rejected as false accusations. He resigned from his position as Official Mayor in May 2026, citing personal reasons. The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Investigation of Forced Disappearance and Disappearance by Private Individuals continues to investigate the circumstances of his death and the parties responsible.
