Benjamin Netanyahu orders the evacuation of the UNRWA compound in Kafr Aqab to remove a terrorist-linked organization from Jerusalem.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu initiated the evacuation of the UNRWA compound in Kafr Aqab, East Jerusalem, on Tuesday. The move follows a law passed by the Knesset that prohibits UNRWA from operating in Israel due to the complicity of its employees in the October 7 massacre. National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir supported the move, stating that an organization involved in terrorism has no right to exist within the State of Israel. While the administration of the UNRWA facility was condemned by Dr. Ramiz Alakbarov, the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process ad interim, who called the seizure unauthorized. Alakbarov argued that UNRWA premises are inviolable under international law and noted that the closure would deprive 340 Palestine refugee youth from the West Bank of their right to education. Despite the international criticism, Israeli security forces, including the IDF and Israel Police, are working in coordination to complete the eviction and begin municipal work on the site.
