Israeli Airstrikes Kill at Least 12 People in Southern Lebanon Village

Israeli air strikes on a southern Lebanese village killed at least 12 people on Monday. The Lebanese Health Ministry reported that one strike destroyed a residential building in Kfar Rumman, killing 11 people, including two children and four women. A second strike hit a vehicle carrying paramedics, killing two medics. The Israeli military stated the strikes were retaliation for two Hezbollah drone attacks that targeted Israeli troops in the Ali al-Taher ridge area. The military also targeted Hezbollah militants who were transferring weapons in the Kfar Rumman area. These attacks occurred despite a U.S.-brokered ceasefire reached in June. While the ceasefire was intended to halt hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, violence has persisted. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun described the escalation as dangerous and urged the international community to take action to stop the violations. Since Hezbollah launched rockets at Israel on March 2, at least 4,300 people have been killed in Lebanon. The Israeli military continues to carry out strikes both within its declared security zone and to the north, often without providing evacuation warnings.
