Indonesia hosts Super Garuda Shield 26 military exercises to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the United States

Indonesia began hosting the Super Garuda Shield 26 military exercises on August 31. The 12-day event involves 4,700 soldiers from nations including Britain, France, and Japan. The exercises are designed to strengthen bilateral interoperability, capabilities, and cooperation between the Indonesian National Armed Forces and the U.S. Military. Activities include special forces infiltration training, cyberdefense drills, and medical evacuation training. Soldiers from the Royal Australian Regiment participated in medical evacuation training at the Baturaja Combat Training Center. The drills have been held for nearly two decades. Patrick Ellis, commander of the US Fourth Infantry Division, stated that the exercise is critical for building the human architecture that keeps the Indo-Pacific safe. Indonesia maintains a neutral foreign policy while balancing defense cooperation with China and Russia.
