Igho Ubiribo Died Following Fatal Pulmonary Embolism Caused by Cosmetic Penile Enlargement Procedure in Thailand

Igho Ubiribo, a 43-year-old British-Nigerian businessman and social media influencer, died in the early hours of March 6 after undergoing a cosmetic penile enlargement procedure in Bangkok. During a luxury vacation in Thailand with his wife, Danielle Simba Allen, Ubiribo received an injection of 40 milliliters of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine at an unnamed clinic. Following the procedure, the couple attended a massage where Ubiribo experienced chest pain and lost consciousness twice. He was transported by ambulance to Sukhumvit Hospital, where he was initially conscious and able to communicate with doctors. However, he lost consciousness again before a CT scan could be performed. Medical staff diagnosed him with a pulmonary embolism—a blood clot blocking blood flow to the lungs—and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation for over 100 minutes. A UK post-mortem examination confirmed that cellular material in his lungs matched the hyaluronic acid used during the injection. Coroner Jean Harkin ruled that the cosmetic procedure caused the fatal embolism. Ubiribo, who was known for his luxury lifestyle and had approximately 185,000 Instagram followers, was buried in London in May.
