Ana Luciía Pineda visits Hospital Carlos Holmes Trujillo to launch reconstruction efforts following the August 10 earthquake.
Ana Luciía Pineda, the first lady of Colombia, visited the Hospital Carlos Holmes Trujillo in eastern Cali to oversee the start of its reconstruction. The hospital, one of 64 public health institutions affected by the August 10 earthquake, currently has 40 closed clinics serving approximately 3,000 daily consultations. The administration announced a roadmap for recovering the city's medical infrastructure, which includes a total investment of COP 478 billion. This investment will target eight strategic projects, including the Hospital Carlos Holmes Trujillo, which is being remodeled with support from the Fundación Vida, Fundación Colombia Luce Sonrisa, and Fundación Solidaridad por Colombia. Mayor Alejandro Eder joined Pineda during the visit, noting that the recovery process is a collaborative effort between the national government and the local administration. The goal is to restore full services to the community quickly, as the hospital currently sees over 1,800 patients daily despite the structural damage.
