Iran launches ballistic missile barrage at U.S. base in Jordan, prompting retaliatory strikes on oil tankers

Iran launched a series of ballistic missiles toward the Al-Azraq airbase in Jordan, which hosts U.S. military assets. The conflict has caused oil prices to soar above $100 a barrel for the first time since July. Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned that further attacks on American warships would result in consequences for Tehran. The administration announced that the U.S. military continues to monitor the situation as tensions escalate in the region.
