Saudi Arabia Vows Retaliation After Houthi Militants Wound 73 People and Strike Oil Facilities

Saudi Arabia has announced it will retaliate against the Iran-backed Houthi militants following a series of strikes that wounded at least 73 people and set several oil installations ablaze. The attacks, which involved dozens of drones and missiles, targeted four cities in south-western Saudi Arabia, including Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jizan, and Najran. Saudi authorities reported that the strikes caused fires at several energy sector facilities and led to a temporary halt in some operations. The Houthi military stated that these actions were a response to more than 100 Saudi airstrikes in Yemen over the past three days. The conflict has contributed to a rise in global oil prices, with Brent crude trading near $100 a barrel. Regional allies, including Egypt, Jordan, and Qatar, condemned the Houthi strikes as a dangerous escalation. The Saudi-led coalition, which has been fighting the Houthi group for over a decade, stated it would take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty and deter the hostile approach of the militia.
