Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf states Iran maintains absolute control over the Strait of Hormuz and will keep it closed until the US fulfills its commitments.

Ghalibaf noted that while 120 vessels passed through the waterway daily before the war, only a few vessels are currently attempting to pass through like smugglers, often coming under Iranian attacks. The maritime blockade has significantly impacted Iran's economy, disrupting over 80% of heavy imports and non-oil exports. This has led to a surge in domestic prices, with food inflation reaching 128% and official inflation nearing 70%. The blockade has forced many Iranian citizens to adopt household austerity, with many families relying on bread-based meals due to the high cost of meat and rice. Local businesses, such as restaurants and auto repair shops, have seen a customer base drop significantly as prices for basic goods and services rise. Ghalibaf also addressed the country's domestic progress, noting that Iran has achieved a decade's worth of progress in air defense and missile systems using domestic technology. He warned that the United States has turned to hybrid and economic warfare to create unrest within Iran.
