Mojtaba Khamenei Urges Muslim Unity and Economic Self-Reliance to Counter U.S. Sanctions
Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has called for increased cooperation and unity among Muslim nations, particularly those in the Gulf, to better confront regional adversaries. In a message published for Islamic Unity Week, Khamenei emphasized that divisions among Muslim countries serve the interests of their enemies and urged rulers to identify their real enemies and act with a unified front. Simultaneously, the administration announced a series of aggressive economic measures to pressure Tehran. Under the leadership of President Trump, the administration has implemented a naval blockade and an "economic D-Day" campaign to reduce Iran's reliance on the U.S. dollar and force a concession on the Strait of Hormuz. President Masoud Pezeshkian reported that Iranian trade has slumped by 25% to 35% due to these sanctions. While the administration believes the blockade is effectively walloping Iran's crude export loadings, the Iranian government remains defiant, signaling no retreat and vowing to withstand U.S. pressure while maintaining control over the strategic waterway.
