JD Vance says the U.S. is investigating Iran's reported wedding attack as the administration continues its military push against Tehran

Vice President JD Vance stated on Thursday that the U.S. is fully investigating the reported Iranian strike on a wedding in the coastal town of Kuhestak. While Iranian state media reported the attack killed five people and injured dozens, Vance expressed skepticism regarding the Iranian reports and noted that the U.S. military never targets civilians. This latest flare-up follows a week of increased fighting where the administration announced strikes against Iranian rocket launchers in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran retaliated by targeting U.S. bases in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. Kuwait's defense ministry reported that its air defenses intercepted the hostile missile and drone attacks, which Iran claimed were a retaliation for U.S. bombardments. Vance clarified that he would not describe the current situation as a full-scale war, noting that there is no active shooting at this moment. He emphasized that the U.S. has a responsibility to carry out strikes because Iran continues to target commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, the administration continues to press Iran with economic sanctions, which have led to some concerns regarding the potential for Tehran to take extreme measures to avoid regime collapse.
