GitHub developer platform shows signs of recovery after morning outages and high error rates

GitHub is showing strong signs of recovery after implementing a fix for status issues that caused outages throughout the morning. The developer platform, which serves 180 million users, reported high error rates of 20% for web traffic and 50% for content downloads during the period of degraded performance. Vladimir Fedorov, the chief technology officer of GitHub, noted that the company is working to expand its capacity to meet the demands of AI-driven workflows. While the platform is still being restored to full service, reports of issues on DownDetector have dropped significantly from a peak of nearly 3,000. Other Microsoft products, including Copilot and Microsoft Teams, also experienced minor outages during the same timeframe. The company identified the problematic component and took corrective action to quickly stabilize the platform for its global user base.
