Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that Israel is on emergency standby for a potential Iranian attack during the High Holy Days. The administration of the Israeli military is monitoring Iran on a daily basis as the United States carries out additional strikes against Iranian air defenses, radar networks, and communications sites. Katz said the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and the Air Force are prepared to respond with great force independently if Iran attacks. He noted that Israel is currently allowing the United States to take the lead in strikes against Iran to accommodate American interests regarding energy security and the Strait of Hormuz. While the United States launched strikes on Iran's southern coast, Iran responded by launching attacks on American bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Iraq. Iran claimed that U.S. forces in Jordan and Iraq were allegedly killed by Israeli forces, but U.S. officials stated there were no fatalities. Additionally, Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen stated that Israel will attack Iran again if Tehran attempts to rebuild its nuclear or missile programs, regardless of any deal between Washington and Iran.
