Jared Kushner Concludes Talks with Benjamin Netanyahu as Israeli Strikes Continue to Impact Gaza Residential Areas

United States envoy Jared Kushner concluded talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to attempt to salvage the Gaza ceasefire. The discussions exposed core issues regarding Israel's reluctance to manage the disarmament of Hamas and its refusal to allow sufficient construction materials into the territory. While the administration announced a 15-point peace plan, Hamas officials stated that Israel's ongoing attacks and failure to withdraw forces remain a violation of the plan. Following the talks, Israeli strikes continued to hit residential areas. A drone strike north of Khan Younis killed three members of the Abdeen family, while another strike in Gaza City killed Hassan al-Deiri. In the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces killed Qais Bitawi, who the military claimed was a Hamas operative. Despite the ceasefire, Gaza faces severe food insecurity. The United Nations World Food Programme reported that 46 percent of the surveyed population reported going to bed hungry at least once in the last 30 days. Food access remains constrained due to Israeli restrictions on theterm of goods entering the strip.
