BART service experienced three days of significant delays and disruptions starting Tuesday due to a fire at a substation near the Daly City station. Sylvia Lamb, the assistant general manager of operations, told the board of directors that the fire was triggered by a failed HVAC unit within a traction power substation that is at least 40 years old. The fire damaged the substation, train control equipment, and a traction power cable, causing the Transbay Tube to be closed for approximately two hours on Tuesday night.
