Lorena Isceri was abducted and thrown off a motorway bridge by her ex-boyfriend Federico Vella

Lorena Isceri, a 45-year-old woman who worked in the veterinary sector, was abducted by her ex-boyfriend Federico Vella in the Rifredi area of Florence. Vella allegedly entered Isceri's garage, tied and locked her in the boot of his car before driving toward a bridge on the A1 motorway. Isceri managed to call an emergency helpline while in the car, but Vella snatched the phone and allegedly threw her off the bridge before jumping off himself. Medical examinations and a CT scan of Isceri's body indicate she was still alive when she was thrown from the viaduct. An autopsy report is expected within 90 days. Nearly 2,000 people gathered in Florence for a candlelit vigil to honor Isceri. The vigil took place on the street where she was abducted. Florence Mayor Sara Funaro stated that the tragedy was caused by obsession and violence rather than jealousy or passion.
