The National Electoral Institute begins an intensive campaign to update the voter registry for the 2027 elections.

The National Electoral Institute allows individuals who will be 18 years old by the June 6, 2027 election date to request their voter registration card in advance. Additionally, the National Electoral Institute reports that approximately 5.4 million voter registration cards will expire during 2026. Citizens with cards ending in "26" must renew them before January 1, 2027, to avoid being removed from the registry. Individuals who have changed addresses, need to corrections for personal data errors, or need replacements due to theft, loss, or deterioration can also perform procedures during this period. The National Electoral Institute offers home attendance for those who cannot attend in person. These procedures are free of charge and can be performed at the Módulos de Atención Ciudadana (MAC) modules.
