Jake Lang arrested after driving vehicles onto sidewalk during Minneapolis City Hall protest

Jake Lang was arrested on Saturday after his vehicle unexpectedly drove onto a sidewalk toward a crowd of counter-protesters in front of Minneapolis City Hall. The far-right activist and pardoned Jan. 6 rioter arrived with six others in two vehicles, which were surrounded by a crowd of hundreds of people. Minneapolis Police Department officials stated that the vehicles moved toward the crowd at approximately 11:50 a.m., causing a quick confrontation where chemical irritants were deployed by both sides. Interim Police Chief Bill Peterson noted that while police had prepared for the demonstration, the vehicles' movement onto the sidewalk incited a riot. Mayor Jacob Frey condemned the action, stating that while people have the right to express their views, driving into a crowd creates a safety problem. Police tracked and stopped both vehicles later in the day, arresting all occupants on probable cause riot. A total of 11 arrests were made in connection with the demonstrations, including four additional individuals outside City Hall.
