Carville noted that the party has a history of avoiding the most liberal candidates during the nominating process. Despite recent victories by DSA-backed candidates and the renewal of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's membership with the organization, Carville believes the DSA remains a minor part of the Democratic coalition. He characterized Ocasio-Cortez as a talented and articulate individual, yet predicted that a DSA-aligned presidential nominee would likely not make it past the first two primaries. He emphasized that the Democratic Party will move forward with a more moderate approach rather than selecting the most liberal option.
