Jimmy Kimmel moves interview with James Talarico to YouTube following FCC threats from the administration
Jimmy Kimmel announced that his interview with Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico will stream on YouTube instead of airing on ABC. Kimmel stated the move was made to avoid potential issues with the administration's Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which he claimed threatened the show and its affiliates over the guest booking. Kimmel noted that the FCC's pressure appears to be based on simple editorial decisions that the administration does not favor. He explained that he moved the interview to YouTube out of consideration for local stations, particularly those in Texas, who would have to deal with the consequences of the broadcast. White House spokesperson Davis Ingle countered the claims, stating that Chairman Brendan Carr has not threatened Kimmel regarding the interview. The administration described Kimmel's reaction as an "egocentric delusion" and accused him of play-acting to create a false narrative. James Talarico described the government's pressure as the most dangerous form of cancel culture. Meanwhile, FCC Commissioner Anna Gomez criticized the administration's actions, calling it a campaign of censorship and control.
