Mauricio G贸mez Am铆n and Toshimitsu Motegi agree to reactivate trade negotiations for an Economic Partnership Agreement between Colombia and Japan.

Mauricio G贸mez Am铆n, the Colombian Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism, met with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi in Tokyo to reactivate negotiations for an Economic Partnership Agreement between the two nations. The agreement aims to offer new opportunities in the agro-industry, investment, and technology transfer. During the meeting, Toshimitsu Motegi expressed Japan's solidarity with the victims of a recent earthquake in Colombia and acknowledged the importance of the new government's commitment to Japanese relations. In addition to the trade agreement, Mauricio G贸mez Am铆n presented a proposal to Toyota to strengthen its industrial presence in Colombia. The administration seeks to have the Japanese manufacturer assemble hybrid and electric cars locally, while also promoting charging infrastructure and local suppliers. While Toyota has not yet confirmed a new plant or production dates, the proposal highlights Colombia's strategic location as a potential regional production platform. The technical teams of both countries will now be instructed to continue the negotiations to finalize the commercial agreement.
