Paul Anthony Carbullido Jr. Rescued After 12-Hour Search in Long Beach Waters

Paul Anthony Carbullido Jr., a 53-year-old man, was rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard after being missing for over 12 hours in the ocean. He fell from a personal watercraft near the Queens Gate Entrance Channel on Sunday night after a wave flipped the jet ski. While his companion, a woman in her 40s, managed to return to her watercraft and eventually reached the break wall, Carbullido was swept out to sea. Emergency responders from the Long Beach Fire Department, Long Beach Police Department, and the U.S. Coast Guard coordinated a search operation that lasted through the night. A good Samaritan on a boat helped locate the woman, who was rescued and taken to a hospital in stable condition. Carbullido remained missing until Monday morning, when a Coast Guard helicopter spotted his neon-green life vest approximately 2.5 miles offshore from the Seal Beach Pier. He was hoisted from the water and transported to a hospital, where he was reported to be conscious but suffering from hypothermia.
