Barry Morphew arrested in Colorado after allegedly violating bond conditions during a hit-and-run incident

Barry Morphew was arrested on Thursday night in Boulder County on an outstanding warrant for failure to comply with bond conditions. Morphew was previously free on a $3 million bond while awaiting trial for the first-degree murder of his wife, Suzanne Morphew. Prosecutors stated that Morphew breached his bond by being involved in a hit-and-run crash in Denver on August 26. Video evidence showed Morphew driving aggressively and striking two vehicles before leaving the scene after offering the driver $300 for damages. Because the crash occurred during a trip to the airport, it was deemed a violation of the rule that Morphew could only leave his home for work or specific limited circumstances. Following the incident, a judge ordered Morphew to remain in his home at all times with no exceptions. A bond hearing is scheduled for next week to discuss the new restrictions and a potential increase in the bond amount. Morphew has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to go to trial in July 2027.
