Juliana Guerrero sentenced to three years in prison for admitting to fraudulent process regarding university titles

Juliana Guerrero will serve a three-year prison sentence after admitting to the crime of fraud on process. The 24-year-old former candidate for Vice Minister of Youth at the Ministry of Equality confessed that she presented false academic documents and updated her resume in the Public Employment System (SIGEP II) to secure a position in the government of Gustavo Petro. During a hearing, Juliana Guerrero acknowledged that she had full knowledge of the fraudulent origin of her diplomas from the University Foundation San Jose. The National General Fiscal Office established that she did not meet the academic requirements to graduate as a public accountant or a technology in Management Accounting and Taxation. While technical validators at the university rejected her grades, the former secretary general of the institution, Luis Carlos Gutiérrez, manually certified her as having met the requirements. As part of the agreement with the National General Fiscal Office, Juliana Guerrero will also face a fine of 100 minimum salaries and a 2.5-year ban from holding public office. The judge noted that the decision to accept the charges was made voluntarily and without external pressure.
