Lindsay Clancy Jury Reports Deadlock in Triple Murder Trial
A jury in the Massachusetts trial of Lindsay Clancy is currently deadlocked after failing to reach a unanimous verdict on the murder of her three children. The 36-year-old former nurse, who is accused of strangling her children—Cora, Dawson, and Callan—with fitness bands in January 2023, pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors argue that Clancy made a calculated and intentional decision to kill her children while her husband was on errands. The defense, however, maintains that Clancy was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time and should not be held criminally responsible. Judge William Sullivan has asked the jury to continue deliberating despite the impasse. If the jury remains unable to agree after a second request, the judge may issue a Tuey-Rodriguez instruction to encourage a final agreement. If a third deadlock persists, the judge will declare a mistrial. The trial has drawn significant public interest, with crowds of supporters often wearing pink to show solidarity with Clancy. The jury is currently weighing whether to convict Clancy of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, or manslaughter, or to find her not guilty by reason of insanity.
