Israel Defense Minister Israel Katz threatens full-scale war against Palestinian Authority if October 7-style attack occurs

Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have directed the Israel Defense Forces to prepare for an all-out war against the Palestinian Authority. This directive follows a stabbing attack in the West Bank where a Palestinian man allegedly killed a 19-year-old settler and was subsequently killed by Israeli forces. Katz stated that the military will launch a comprehensive campaign if the Palestinian Authority security mechanisms are known to be launching or preparing a large-scale terrorist attack similar to the events of October 7. The proposed strategy includes the targeted elimination of senior officials, the evacuation of residents from villages used for terrorist activity, and the destruction of militant infrastructure. Katz compared this approach to the security zones established in Gaza and Lebanon. The defense minister noted that terrorism in the West Bank is currently at its lowest level in decades. He emphasized that Israel will not allow a return to a multi-year intifada, aiming to maintain security stability while expanding Jewish communities.
